nop, it doesn't =) haha i mean unless u hold them against your skin then the flame will burn you, but if u accidently hit urself with them then no... hmmmm well when i was beginning i used to practice about 2-3 hours a day and it took me about 5 or 6 months to amount to something decent hahaha... but once u get the basic moves... then it become easier =) btw, practicing with friends is way more fun 2012-02-01 11:55:26
two really helpful tips are:
-keep your circles as straight as possible.
-don't keep your wrists stiff!!!
let them flow as much as you can 2012-01-31 19:18:53

the cool thing about kevlar is that if u accidentaly hit your self with it (which u will i promise) it doesn't burn as opposed to those homemade poi, i will not even explain how to make those cause they can be dangerous. plus kevlar will last for aaaages 2012-01-31 19:12:19
Kevlar poi are for the actual spinning with fire i got mine here http://www.burningpassion.com/products/fire-gear/poi/ i recommend monkey fist poi they make a nice flame (i have those)plus they are easier to habdle for beginners 2012-01-31 19:04:06
hmmmmm... i hadn't seen where u were from hahaha... anyway, so to start u need to make yourself some practice poi, most of us just use long tube socks filled with rice or beans or whatever and sewed so the rice won't go all over the place like this =) 2012-01-31 19:01:26
