KarencfvJanuary 31, 2012, 12:35 am - ashhh i just barely saw this jajajajaja u didnt want to learn though =( |
VictJanuary 31, 2012, 7:08 am - Ok, I want to learn but you live in cuernavaca and I live in Brooklyn. I have an idea. Why don't you explain me with pictures? Or with examples? |
KarencfvJanuary 31, 2012, 7:01 pm - hmmmmm... i hadn't seen where u were from hahaha... anyway, so to start u need to make yourself some practice poi, most of us just use long tube socks filled with rice or beans or whatever and sewed so the rice won't go all over the place like this =) |
KarencfvJanuary 31, 2012, 7:04 pm - Kevlar poi are for the actual spinning with fire i got mine here http://www.burningpassion.com/products/fire-gear/poi/ i recommend monkey fist poi they make a nice flame (i have those)plus they are easier to habdle for beginners |
KarencfvJanuary 31, 2012, 7:05 pm - handle not "habdle" hahaha i wrote like i have the flu or something hahaha |
KarencfvJanuary 31, 2012, 7:08 pm - the cool thing about kevlar is that if u accidentaly hit your self with it (which u will i promise) it doesn't burn as opposed to those homemade poi, i will not even explain how to make those cause they can be dangerous. plus kevlar will last for aaaages |
KarencfvJanuary 31, 2012, 7:13 pm - now for the fun part, to begin spinning there are some really well made tutorial videos here: poicommunity.com/online_lesson/encat/basic |
KarencfvJanuary 31, 2012, 7:15 pm - hmmmm the text seems to have cut itself the url ends with /basic/ |
KarencfvJanuary 31, 2012, 7:18 pm - two really helpful tips are: -keep your circles as straight as possible. -don't keep your wrists stiff!!! let them flow as much as you can |
KarencfvJanuary 31, 2012, 7:19 pm - have fun!!! contact me if u have any questions |
VictFebruary 1, 2012, 10:52 am - Wow, I didn't know kevlar doesn't burn... How many hours of practice I need a week to become a pro? |
KarencfvFebruary 1, 2012, 11:55 am - nop, it doesn't =) haha i mean unless u hold them against your skin then the flame will burn you, but if u accidently hit urself with them then no... hmmmm well when i was beginning i used to practice about 2-3 hours a day and it took me about 5 or 6 months to amount to something decent hahaha... but once u get the basic moves... then it become easier =) btw, practicing with friends is way more fun |
