Like "Have you heard about X?" Do not be didactic about it, or give away all the info you know on it in one sentence. Make it something that is interesting to YOU and you would like to talk about! You sound smartest and most engaged when you actually care about what you are talking about. Remember, the goal here is to spark a conversation, you have no control over where it will go, and that is half the fun of it! It will morph organically from there based on the people who are around and what they can contribute. Try it at your next gathering. You'll be surprised where the conversation can take you! |
